另类的铝带高音与气动式高音设计

现时市售的扬声器所用高音单元依然以半球型设计为主流,这是因为该技术成熟,而且提供不俗的频带宽度,而半球型高音单元所采用的物料包括有;丝膜、铝金属,甚至昂贵的铍金属等等。除了主流的半球型高音单元,其实还有许多不同设计类型的高音单元,其中有两款高音单元亦开始受到厂商采用,分别是铝带高音和气动式高音。两者在外观上极为相似,同样是长方形设计及有保护盖。这两种单元到底有又甚么不同呢?

铝带高音单元的开发是由早些年代的铝带麦克风洐生出来,采用方形的外型,但铝带高音是以金属薄膜作为震膜,将薄膜放在磁场中,有电流通过时便会产生振动。由于用铝质制造的金属振膜很轻,所以高频的响应十分出色,最高频率输出能够超出20kHz以上的超高音,但缺陷是容易损坏,所以铝带单元必需要加强保护。

铝带式设计能够提供更高的频率输出表现,但在相同技术下,铝带之间所产生的磁场强度比一般高音单元为弱,导致输出的能量较低。但近些年,很多高音单元都采用了钕磁作为永久磁石,增加了磁场强度,增强了高频输出音压,同时亦能够将单元体积进一步缩小,降低生产成本,使一般扬声器也能够使用铝带式高音单元,加上许多生产商也积极推出铝带式高音单元,进一步推低铝带高音的售价。

要使铝带高音单元的高频表现提升,除了使用磁场强度更大之外,亦可减轻震膜的重量,所以部分铝带高音便采用更轻的薄膜如Kapton,加上铝导电膜制造。因此,市面上的铝带高音也不一定是全铝带,而是以合成物料加上金属镀膜制造,英文名称为Ribbon Tweeter,或者以「铝带高音单元」来称呼会更贴切。

而另一种称为气动式高音(Air Motion Transformer)或简称AMT,是由Oskar Heil博士于60年代所研究出来的产品,发声的原理与一般动圈单元或静电单元完全不同。气动式单元是透过一块折的薄膜,并在薄膜底部加上导电金属,在强力的磁场作用下,声音讯号令折的振膜左右来回震动,逼出空气产生声波。由于薄膜有如折扇般折,1吋宽度的AMT之有效面积相等于一个8吋单元的振面,薄膜只需少许移动,便足以输出足够的声压。虽然气动式高音与铝带高音的外形有点类似,但铝带的震动方向与发声方向一致,但气动式高音的震动方向与发声方向则为90度角。

Although pneumatic pitched voice is similar to that of aluminum with high pitch, the direction of the aluminum strip's vibration is the same as that of the voicing, but the direction and direction of the pneumatic high pitch is 90 degrees.
气动式高音的历史大约在40年左右。在70年代,AMT的技术正式被应用于扬声器,当时的ESS公司推出了AMT-1高音单元。后来很多公司亦随后开始制作气动式单元,其中较出名的包括ELAC JET单元、Adam X-ART单元、ETON ER4等等。由于采用了磁场强大的钕磁石,使气动式单元的最高频率响应提升至50kHz。
The history of the pneumatic soprano is about 40 years or so. In 70s, AMT's technology was formally applied to speakers, when the ESS company launched a AMT-1 soprano unit. Later, many companies began to make pneumatic units, which were more famous for ELAC JET units, Adam X-ART units, ETON ER4 and so on. The maximum frequency response of the pneumatic unit is raised to 50kHz due to the use of a strong magnetic field of neodymium magnets.
由于低音单元通常需要较大的气流量,但气动式高音单元则需要一个密闭式的箱室,气动式高音单元的设计并不适合设计成为低音单元。另一面,气动式高音单元的制作亦相当考功夫,其中包括折合薄膜,导致单元不能大量低成本生产,所以市面上具备气动式单元的扬声器都是在中、高档产品应用为主。
